Just another GR refugee. Other than that, I had a stroke in 2004, and read almost anything I can get my hands on, though I have a particular weakness for history, mystery, and historical fiction.
Just too many under-developed ideas. Putting librarian spies, magic, faeries, vampires, werewolves, dragons, the world's greatest detective (in this alternate London, not Sherlock Holmes but a belted Earl), and an ex-librarian evil super spy all into one novel (and not a massively long one, at that), was probably at least a few ideas too many.
In tone it reminded me of Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate novels, but those are better.
